Even if biology was never one of your strong suits in school, that won’t stop you from lovin’ all of the science-inspired designs of emily p-s jewelry anyway! Our neighbor over in Berkeley, California, Emily Percival-Snyder is a Maine College of Art grad and has been making jewelry ever since she was a wee child.

With a love for “watch[ing] things grow, in a petri dish, in a flower pot, where ever”, Emily’s developed a line of jewelry based around that interest. Her pieces fall into cool sounding buckets like Cell Formation, Leaf Architecture, Spores / Petri Dish and Lichen. emily p-s jewelry is so intriguingly lovely you’ve gotta come see it to believe it! ARCHICRAFT at Modern Mouse!

Man, it was tough picking the ARCHICRAFT product to feature in this post. Do we go with the awesome, shiny laser-cut acrylic doilies? The carefully crocheted mobius cowls with built-in twist?! Or what about the customizable laser-cut card where you can pop out the dots to create your own message?! But augh! Then we wouldn’t get to highlight the product that makes us laugh the most: the hand-embroidered mustache bandana! Ah ha ha ha haaaa…

Emeryville’s Cindy Liu is the designer and fabricator behind ARCHICRAFT, and she puts her architecture schooling to use in her cleverly designed crafts to bring to us a variety of fun products like the ones we’ve mentioned. It’s no wonder ARCHICRAFT won an Editor’s Choice Award at Maker Faire this year! Congrats and thanks and welcome, ARCHICRAFT!

Publique Living at Modern Mouse!

We spotted one of these irresistible pop-up placemats made of recycled paper on Etsy’s front page, and we had to see who the maker was. We were full of delight to find Publique Living to be a San Francisco-based company, and even more pleased when designer Lian Ng accepted our invitation to join Modern Mouse!

Lian is a self-proclaimed aficionado of mid-20th century furniture and modern minimalist architecture, an interest that we think comes across quite nicely in his amazing work. If creating his line of die-cut and laser-cut designs wasn’t enough, Lian also teaches graphic design and typography at The Academy of Art University in SF! We look forward to presenting Lian’s line of Publique Living products to you, and welcome Publique Living to the family. Thanks so much!

Feterie at Modern Mouse!

You’ll make your gift-giving prowess known if you package it up with a lovely greeting card, gift enclosure and/or gift wrap from Feterie. We’re drawn to the vibrant colors and simple yet sophisticated patterns in Feterie’s paper products, which are inspired by founder and designer Cathe Huynh-Sison’s nomadic travels around the globe. And we appreciate the fact that all of Feterie’s products are printed using eco-friendly paper and soy ink (for products that are offset printed).

Based in San Jose, California, Cathe’s not only the driving force behind Feterie, she also touts credentials as an award-winning freelance designer and art director at her boutique design studio, chd. How she manages to accomplish all this and raise her soon-to-be two kids at the same time, we couldn’t tell ya. What we can tell you is how happy we are to welcome Feterie to the Modern Mouse family. mi SPA at Modern Mouse!

Aaah, just reading about mi SPA’s product line makes us feel like we’re being pampered at the spa.

The line’s luxurious indulgence awakens the senses with its intoxicating Asian-inspired scents from sensuous sake to the aromatic tropical scents of dreamy coconut lemongrass and sweetly-refreshing Yuzu.

We’re talking the likes of green tea body lotion, asian pear perfume oil and some amazing looking bamboo charcoal soap! Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale. Can you smell it yet? We’re liking the fact that these yummy bath and body products also happen to be nutrient-rich, rice-based ingredients with no artificial coloring and natural-based preservatives that are used only as needed.

Mimie Wong is mi SPA’s founder and, we’re happy to report, an Alameda resident! We feel a zen-like harmony and rejuvenation at having her revitalizing products in our store. Thank you mi SPA, and welcome!

Fabric lovers will be happy to hear that San Francisco’s Helen Fawcett will be gracing our shelves with her Cookie and the Dude line of deliciously yummy fabric headbands, belts and jewelry We have ichi-v to thank for bringing Cookie and the Dude on board, and we’re dancing like mice that she did!

Helen’s product line is as popular as she and her vintage and reproduction fabrics are around the city and within the crafting community, in which she’s been active for years participating in and organizing craft fairs and events. Cookie and the Dude, welcome to Modern Mouse, and thank you!

We snatched up one of olive’s Pop Props as soon as we saw it! Simple yet ingenious, this product comes flat like a business card so you get to pop the shape up on your own and lean a lucky item of your choice on it: iPhone, business cards, photo… Heck, ours doesn’t hold anything just so we can stare at thelovely design.

Olive brand is the creation of Zoe Design Associates, a local San Francisco-based industrial design firm with a small, tight-knit team that’s worked with notable clients from Tivo to Motorola. Thanks for joining us, olive, and thanks!

The problem with finding all these fabulous designers is that, well, how are we gonna stop ourselves from taking all their amazing creations home with us?! As soon as we saw this pair of poppies earrings from Alameda’s own Periphery Designs, we were hooked. Then there’s the Water Lily Necklace, the All You Need Necklace, the Tiny Sparrow Stud Earrings…{swoon!}

Angela is the self-taught artist behind Periphery Designs and, on top of jewelry-making, also juggles grad school and nursing. How she manages to do all that and still produce such loveliness is a mystery, but there’s one thing we know for sure: we’re lucky little mice to have Periphery Designs at Modern Mouse! Sweet Meats at Modern Mouse!

Everything tastes better with bacon, right? Especially when it’s from the Sweet Meats plush toy collection of bacon, t-bone steaks, pork chops and hambones. Hambones! Now you can wrap yourself in bacon — or any of the other meats — like you know you’ve always wanted to. We’re so in love with each and every piece of sweet meat and are happy as pigs in mud to be carrying some of each at Modern Mouse!

Sweet Meats are the brainchild of Lauren Venell of San Francisco, who can often be seen at local craft fairs like Bazaar Bizarre and Renegade Craft Fair, where we first met her. Lauren’s a product designer with butchers on both sides of her family. Ah, that explains it! We love not only the meaty concept of these plush toys, but also the fact that all Sweet Meats are made from 100% recycled, super cuddly fleece, and colored with recycled dye materials. So not only will your doctor approve of you consuming unlimited amounts of these Sweet Meats, but the planet will too!
